Wilder has no chance against Fury – Mike Tyson

As the eagerly anticipated trilogy fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury drawas near, boxing legend Mike Tyson has stated that the American has no chance against the ‘Gypsy King’.

Both men fought to a draw in 2018, then Fury handed Wilder his first career defeat via a seventh round KO in 2020. They will meet for the third and final installment on October 9 in Las Vegas with the WBC belt on the line.

With the bout a week away, Tyson says Wilder must overcome some personal battles if he’s to have any chance of success against the big Brit.

“I don’t know anything about beating Fury in the third fight,” Tyson told YahooSports.

“In order for him to do that, he’s gonna have to beat himself in life.

“He’s his biggest opponent at this moment in life. He is not gonna stand a chance with Fury if he doesn’t beat himself.”

Tyson made the comments in April 2020, shortly after Fury beat Wilder in their second fight. He believes Wilder didn’t react at all well to the defeat.

“Wilder’s stuff’s a lot of energy that I once had. We have to be able to accept our mistakes, stand up and say, ‘Hey, I messed up, the best man won,” said Tyson.

“We can’t be consumed with our egos. Nobody was more consumed with their ego than me.

“We always look for excuses when we lose and say, ‘Well I couldn’t lose, there must’ve been a mistake, somebody had to cheat me.’ So we have to look at the perspective that a loss is a form of education.”
