WCQ: Nigeria beat Cape Verde 2-1

Nigerian maintained their 100 per cent start to the 2022 World Cup qualifiers with a 2-1 win against Cape Verde in Mindelo on Tuesday.

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen drew the Eagles level after Dylan Tavares had fired the hosts ahead in the first half to leave the teams level at the interval.

But a comical own goal in the second half from defender K. Santos saw the depleted Gernot Rohr’s men leave the island nation with all three points.

Tuesday’s result leaves Nigeria top of group C with a maximum six points from two games – three ahead of Liberia who beat the Central African Republic earlier on Monday.
