Vanessa Bryant and her mother, Sophia Laine have reached a settlement in the lawsuit the latter filed against the former.
Laine had filed a $5 million lawsuit against her daughter, claiming Kobe Bryant promised to provide money for the rest of her life. She claimed that despite this promise, Vanessa kicked her out after Kobe’s tragic death.
The lawsuit states that the home she was kicked out of was purchased by her son-in-law and that she was owed $200,000 since she worked as a nanny for the couple for 20 years.
Vanessa fired back at her mother’s claims and said “In reality, she only occasionally babysat my older girls when they were toddlers. As of ten years ago, our kids were full-time students and athletes and I didn’t have another child until 2016.”
Bryant called the lawsuit disgraceful and stated that Kobe “never promised my mother anything, and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy.”
According to TMZ, the suit is now complete as the parties have settled for an undisclosed amount.
