Teenager Who Filmed George Floyd’s Murder Awarded Pulitzer

Darnella Fraizer has been awarded a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation.

The Minnesota teenager was given the special honour for her bravery in capturing George’s Floyd’s Murder on camera, year ago

Darnella was awarded the honour on Friday, June 11 and Pulitzer board co-chair Mindy Marqués had this to say:

“We want to note that the board has awarded a special citation to Darnella Frazier, the teenage witness, who filmed and posted the transformative video that jolted viewers and spurred protests against police brutality around the world.”

Darnella was 17-years-old when she recorded and posted the video of the murder of George Floyd by ex-police officer, Derek Chauvin. She said after the video went viral she had to relocate for safety reasons. She also said she suffered from anxiety and insomnia.

Despite the trauma she suffered, Darnella said she is still proud of herself for exposing the truth.
