Former president of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli was laid to rest in the capital, Dodoma, on Monday.
The BBC reports that thousands of Tanzanians – including Ministers and lawmakers – gathered to pay their last respects to the former president who passed away on Wednesday.
Former Vice President Samia Hassan announced that Magufuli died of heart-related complications. She has since been sworn-in in place of Magufuli, becoming the first female president of the East African country.
In her first public address as president, the 61-year-old announced 21-days of mourning for Magufuli and public holidays on March 22 and on March 25, the day the late president will be buried.
Neighbouring Kenya had also announced seven days of national mourning for the man referred to as ‘bulldozer’ over his no-nonsense anticorruption crusade.
