Rosie O’Donnell made assertions on Whitney Houston’s sexuality and how she felt the late singer was conflicted about it.
The radio host referenced this in an episode of her podcast, “Hot Takes and Dives” and mentioned Houston’s history with drugs.
O’Donnell disclosed that she knew Houston to be part of a secret lesbian group of famous people and claimed the latter and her personal assistant Robyn Crawford were a couple.
“I knew that they were together. I was friends with a lot of very athletic older lesbian women who were in the WNBA – all these basketball playing women.
“I knew that, I knew it for a very long time. Everyone sort of knew it,” she said.
Rosie O’Donnell said the late singer was conflicted with her sexuality due to her upbringing in a Baptist church.
“Whitney was troubled by, I think, the gay part of her life and didn’t want it exposed. It’s hard in black culture to accept gayness. It’s culturally more difficult, I think. And the church… the Baptist Church weighed heavily on her… Growing up in the church and singing gospel, [for Houston] I think that there was a lot of conflict about that.”
