Manchester United have sent a special request to the Premier League to allow new signing Cristiano Ronaldo to wear the No. 7 shirt at the club.
According to The Times, the club requested special dispensation from the league management after the Portuguese superstar completed his stunning move back to Old Trafford on Tuesday.
The five-time ballon d’Or winner has made the No.7 shirt his own and wore the famous shirt during his first spell at the Theatre of Dreams, at Real Madrid (following the departure of legendary captain, Raul).
Edinson Cavani currently wears the shirt and may easily return it to Ronaldo since the no.21 shirt is available following Daniel James’ departure to Leeds.
Cavani wears the same number for his national team, Uruguay.
The Times further claims that United have already applied for special dispensation in order to make the move possible and quell the disquiet over the famous shirt.
