Priyanka Chopra has issued a public apology following the backlash over ‘The Activist’ reality show.
The actress took to her Instagram page to release a statement to address the concerns of the public over the tone-deafness of the show which was to be fronted by her alongside Julianne Hough and Usher.
Chopra admitted that the show got it wrong and apologised that her participation disappointed a lot of people.
She revealed that the new format of the show will highlight the stories of activists and their causes.
The series drew an uproar on social media after it was first announced on September 10, further pointing out the clear disconnect between Hollywood and average folks.
Originally conceived as a “competition series” hosted by Usher, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Julianne Hough, The Activist would pit humanitarians working in the fields of “health, education, and environment” in various challenges, with the ultimate goal of making it to the G20 Summit where they could pitch their ideas in front of the gathering’s influential crowd.
