Omokri blasts Tinubu for donating N50m to Katsina market fire victims

Former presidential aide and social critic, Reno Omokri has slammed All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, for not beginning his charity works from his home in the South West following his donation to victims of the Katsina market fire.

The former Lagos governor announced a N50m donation to the victims of the market fire while paying deaf ears to traders who suffered the same fate in the South-West.

While commiserating with the Katsina fire victims on Wednesday, Tinubu hinted “that Nigerians must be their brother’s keepers” to promote unity and collaboration amongst Nigerians.

Reacting in a tweet shortly after Tinubu announced the donation during a visit to Katsina, the home state of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Reno wrote:

“Bola Tinubu, who didn’t visit or donate one kobo to victims of the Sasa market crisis, or to victims of the Ijesha market fire in Lagos, has today donated N50m to victims of the Katsina market fire. Obviously, Tinubu’s charity does not begin at home.”

Omokri joins many Nigerians who looked askance at Tinubu’s offer to the government and people of Katsina State.

The former Lagos governor has remained mum as a series of fires gut markets across the south-west region.

He also has been particularly disinterested in the plight of rural dwellers in the south-west ravaged by marauding herdsmen.
