MI Abaga has kickstarted a trend on Twitter, #IAmIgboToo, in which he encouraged Nigerians to stand in solidarity with the south-eastern region of the country which many have come to believe is targeted by the presidency.
It all started last night when President Buhari, in response to the spate of insecurity in the southern parts of Nigeria, reminded the younger generation of the havoc his generation wreaked during the 1967-1970 war, adding that he won’t waste time to mete out similar horror.
“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand,” he tweeted.
This stirred heated reactions on social media, with majority of Nigerian accusing him of threatening Nigerians again with genocide, and so they reported his tweet en masse.
Twitter has since deleted the offensive tweet, and now MI Abaga has asked Nigerians to stand in solidarity with the Igbo ethnic group. “The narrative that “Nigeria hates Igbo people” is an outdated context that will leave with the old and bitter generation Today let us stand with our Igbo family and say #IAmIgboToo #Ozoemena,” he tweeted.
And he said a lot more.

What a powerful statement that love is greater than hate!
Our Igbo family we stand with you! The rhetoric of threats and continued marginalization of any Nigerian citizen can and will not go unchallenged!
Let's keep our voices rising higher 🙏🏾#IamIgboToo #ozoemena pic.twitter.com/88qcDIztPC
