The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday afternoon met with Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom, at the State House, Abuja.
This comes in the wake of the attempt on the governor’s life by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on the outskirts of the capital Makurdi.
Speaking to State House Correspondents after the meeting, Governor Ortom disclosed that he was delighted with the president’s reaction to the development, adding that both men exchanged ideas on how to manage the crisis trailing the development.
Meanwhile, the police have announced the arrest of three Jukun fishermen in connection with last Saturday’s attack on Ortom.
Ortom’s Security Adviser, Col. Paul Hemba, confirmed the arrest while conducting newsmen round the scene of the attack on Tuesday.
Hemba stated the police team found the fishermen close to the scene of the attack and are being investigated.
