Just In: Man United v Liverpool of after fans protest

The blockbuster Premier League clash between Manchester United and Liverpool has been postponed after about 300 fans broke into Old Trafford to protest against the Glazer family’s ownership of the club.

The game was scheduled to kick-off at 16:30 local time on Sunday, but is now called off after a security meeting at Old Trafford.

Sunday’s protest follows a similar move by fans of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspurs and Liverpool following the now cancelled European Super League announced by Europe’s leading sides and the so-called English ‘big six’.

The announcement of the hugely unpopular and ill-advised breakaway league has seen massive fan anger across England – whose clubs were the first to pull out.

Organisers are yet to announce a new date for the match.
