The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has approved the composition of the Federal Government’s team that will dialogue with Twitter over the suspension of the social media site’s activities in Nigeria.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the setting up of the team in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
Mohammed said he will be heading the team which comprises the Attorney-General of the Federation and Honourable Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Works and Housing, Minister of State for Labour and Employment as well as other relevant government agencies.
The announcement comes bare hours after Mohammed defended the ban, saying FG’s move was constitutional and in a bid to protect the country’s integrity.
Days after the suspension was announced, Twitter had in a statement regretted the action, saying it was open to dialogue with the Nigerian government.
