An advocacy group, Neo Black Movement of Africa Worldwide (NBM), has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to save the people of Southern Kaduna from the alleged genocidal ethnic cleansing by bandits in the region.
The group expressed concern that the federal government had turned a blind eye to the destruction going on in Southern Kaduna by armed groups.
The group, in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Oluwatosin Dixon, appealed to the federal government to urgently address the pogrom.
It condemnd in strong terms what it described as perceived ethnic cleansing by suspected Fulani herdsmen and onslaughts on Christian sects by extremists.
According to the group, “We are appalled by news of Christians facing ethnic cleansing in Southern Kaduna and Christian students routinely kidnapped by suspected Fulani terrorists with predominantly Christian schools inevitably shut down.”
The statement noted that it becomes ever more alarming when citizens contemplate a resort to self help in the face of perceived dereliction of functions by the Nigerian government.
The group noted that herdsmen killed 100 people in six days, burnt churches, destroyed houses in Southern Kaduna, added to the numerous other horrific reports, including that of suspected armed Fulani herdsmen killing no fewer than 100 Atyap natives in the last six days.
The NBM appealed to the Federal government to provide adequate secirity and protection for the besieged Southern Kaduna communities.
