Iheanacho nominated for Premier League Player/Goal of the Month Awards

Nigeria and Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has got double recognition for his blistering form as he’s been nominated for the ‘Premier League Player’ and ‘Goal of the Month’ Awards for April.

The Super Eagles star became the fourth Nigerian to win the monthly award after Jay-Jay Okocha, Peter Odemwingie and Odion Ighalo when he scooped the March edition of the award after scoring five goals in three matches in a blistering run of form.

With four goals and two assists last month, Iheanacho, 24, could, however, become the first Nigerian to win the monthly award back to back if he wins the April edition that sees him go up against seven other nominees, including Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and West Ham’s Jesse Lingard.

Others are Leeds United Stuart Dallas, West Brom’s Matheus Pereira, Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin, and Burnley’s Chris Wood.

The former Manchester City forward could also bag a double award for the month of April following another nomination in the goal of the month category.

Iheanacho assisted the Foxes’ equaliser against Crystal Palace on April 26 before completing the comeback with a screamer in the 80th minute to give Leicester a vital 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium.

Other nominees for the goal of the month include West Ham’s Lingard and Pablo Fornals, Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold, Newcastle’s Saint-Maximin, West Brom’s Callum Robinson and Wolves’ Leander Dendoncker.
