Iconic UK boy band, Westlife, signs new deal with East West Records

Famous hitmaking Irish music group, Westlife, announced that they have signed a new record deal with East West Records, which is owned and distributed by Warner Music.

This comes bare weeks after the ‘Soledad’ singers parted ways with EMI Records.

“We’ve got some big news for you today!” a tweet on their verified Twitter handle read.

“Not only is it St Patrick’s Day but we are also celebrating our brand new partnership with Eastwest and Warner Music.”

In a subsequent tweet, the ‘Coast to Coast’ singers said,  “We have found a record label that share the same energy and high ambitions as the four of us, in what will be a very busy year, where there will be some surprise announcements and of course new music.”

Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan and Markus Feehily formed the group ‘Westlife’ in 1998 and made a smashing impact.

Billboard reports that the group holds the record for most consecutive No. 1s in the U.K. (seven) and most singles to debut at the summit.

They’ve scored eight No. 1 albums in the U.K. and have a remarkable bounty of 14 No. 1 singles, one of the biggest hauls for any act. Twenty-five Westlife singles have hit the U.K. Top 10.

According to Warner Music, the group has sold over 55 million records worldwide. Warner Music expects to add to that tally.

Westlife separated in 2012 but the foursome reunited for the 2019 album release Spectrum, which again ruled the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

Their career trophy haul includes two Brit Awards, four MTV Awards and a venue record at Croke Park Stadium in Dublin, which they sold-out five times, as per Billboard.
