Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted 15 persons in Niger State.
The Niger State Command, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday.
According to Abiodun, the suspected bandits had stormed the remote community via Ibbi in Mashegu Local Government Area and also rustled a yet-to-be known number of cattle.
The PPRO noted that a team of police/vigilante has been drafted to the area for search and rescue of the abducted victims.
The attack comes a day after President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the service chiefs to erect a strong military formation in Niger owing to the nefarious activities of bandit and terrorists in the state.
The president stated this as part of ceremonies to commemorate this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
