These are dark times for Ghanaians as the country suffered a nationwide power cut, including the capital, Accra.
Officials in the West African country blamed the latest outage – the first since 2017 – on a challenge with its power system.
According to a statement by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Sunday’s challenge which emerged at approximately 14:10 hrs local time led to a total system shutdown.
“This led to the interruption in power supply in all parts of the country”, a GRIDCo statement read in part.
See the GRIDCo statement below.
Sources say the lights went out first in the capital, Accra before it spread to other regions as frustrated citizens took to social media to express worry over the development.
