Philippines boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao, has finally called time on his illustrious career.
This comes after the 42-year-old declared he’ll be contesting the Philippines presidential election in 2022.
Pacquiao, nicknamed PacMan, accepted the nomination from the faction he leads in the ruling PDP-Laban Party on Sunday.
The 42-year-old was an eight-division world champion, and last fought in August where he lost to Yordenis Ugas.
“My boxing career? My boxing career is already over,” Pacquiao told actress Toni Gonzaga on her YouTube program Toni Talks.
“It’s done because I’ve been in boxing for a long time and my family says that it is enough.
“I just continued [to box] because I’m passionate about this sport.”
Pacquiao’s career spanned 26 years and 72 fights, winning 62 and losing 10, including the ‘fight of the century’ against undefeated five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
