Veteran artiste Ugochukwu Micheal Stephens aka Ruggedman, has stated that there are some inherent lessons the Federal Government can learn from the successful organisation of the popular Big Brother Naija show.
This is just as the rapper alleged that most youths focus more on Big Brother Naija because the reality show has more to offer than the government.
In an interview with ThePUNCH, the ‘baraje’ singer stated that the government is still in denial about the killings and shooting of peaceful protesters at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos State in October 2020.
“I think the only reason the Nigerian youths are so serious about BBN is because of the transparency. It is also because of the fact that they know their votes count.
“They also know that at the end of the day, the organisers fulfil their promises. That is why people are so serious about it.
“Can you say that about the Nigerian government? So that is why I said the Nigerian government has a lot to prove to the people, to show transparency, to show competence, to live up to expectations and also fulfil the promises they made.
“The Nigerian government needs to earn the trust of the people, especially the youths.
“Till today we are still trying to find out who shot at the protesters at the toll gate in 2020.
“A year after the incident, we still have not heard anything about it. There are so many things the government needs to come through with first before the youths will trust them,” he said.
