Back in 2015, President Buhari was very pleased with Nigerians who used their social media to campaign for votes for him. Now, he has a problem with Twitter, especially, because Nigerians often call him out on it over issues of insecurity in Nigeria.
In case you missed it: yesterday, the Buhari government banned Twitter two days after the platform deleted his tweet in which he threatened young Nigerians. That decision has stirred heated conversation across the globe, with Nigerians calling out President Buhari’s hypocrisy, because only a few years ago, he was very pleased with the platform. Now, he has banned it because he was offended by the criticisms he has face.
“The Social Media was sweet and juicy in 2015. Now it is bitter because we use the same social media to demand good governance from you,”Debo Macaroni said on his Twitter, quoting the president’s 2015 tweet. “You sir have indeed given us a New Nigeria of Killings, Kidnapping, banditry, loss of Jobs, Economic instability and DICTATORSHIP!!”
