Covid-19: Nigeria records 281 new cases, 19 deaths

Nigeria on Thursday recorded 281 fresh cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as third wave continues to spread.

This was contained in a statement by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, (NCDC), saying 19 victims of Coronavirus died in the last 24 hours.

According to the NCDC, out of the 281 new cases recorded in the country, the FCT has the highest with 111 new cases of the virus, followed by Lagos with 34 cases, Edo 33, Kwara and Plateau states recorded 20 cases each, while Rivers has 17 new confirmed cases.

Others are: Abia with 10 cases, Imo 8, Delta and Nasarawa 7 each, Ekiti 6, Akwa-Ibom 3 and Oyo State 2 cases.

According to the specialist health agency, 193,617 patients were discharged after they have fully recovered from the virus, while unfortunately, 2,720 Nigerians have so far lost their lives to COVID-19 in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
