President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the appointment of DIG Usman Alkali Baba as acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
According to the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, the appointment takes immediate effect.
This was disclosed in a press release by the minister to State House correspondents at the Presidential villa, Abuja on Tuesday.
The appointment of DIG Baba is rather abrupt as Buhari had on February 4, 2021 extended the tenure of Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for three months.
On the new police chief’s in-tray is the tide of insecurity sweeping through the country and growing separatists pressures in the south.
