Bless Clymax Releases New Rap/Afro-RnB Single “Better Days” With Breakout Talent, DTS

With the renewed influx of rap in the Nigerian music scene, particularly with UK/US Drill-style sounds, newcomer, Bless Clymax shines with his latest single, “Better Days.”

In December 2020, Bless Clymax released his sensational rave/house party drill hit, “Oga Move {Paper}” featuring Mr. Awele. The song captivated young audiences with its combative energy and its edgy, rough but humorous lyrics. However, in this new single produced by another bright, fresh talent, Toyin Ores, Bless Clymax takes a different perspective.

The production of “Better Days” utilizes a softer version of the trademark sounds of UK drill alongside the smooth vocals of breakout singing talent, DTS. The track transforms into a catchy and memorable hook that works its way into your brain as Bless Clymax, often just called Bless, reminisces on a very difficult period in his life and what it meant or means getting through those dark days into “Better Days”.  This song resonates with keeping the faith and holding on to hope for better things in one’s life as long as one keeps putting the work in.

Bless speaks life into his current situation by saying “[…] As the days get darker my lights get brighter, I use fire baptize the new empire, never quit, never tire, black power moving way higher […].” The track is coated with powerful testimonies of how we are all just trying to survive in the present socio-political and economic climate we find ourselves in.

The song’s artwork captures the spirit of Nas and Damian Marley’s project “Distant Relatives,” tapping into a higher sense where one ponders on the realities of life but still remains optimistic about what is to come.
