President Barack Obama has recounted an event where he ended up breaking a classmate’s nose back in school.
While discussing with Bruce Springsteen on the subject of race, the first black president of the United States revealed that the friend had called him a c**n during a lock room fight.
“Listen, when I was in school, I had a friend. We played basketball together.” “And one time we got into a fight and he called me a c**n,” Obama said during an episode of Springsteen’s podcast, “Renegades”, The Hill reports.
Before hitting his friend in the face and breaking his nose, Obama stated,
“Now first of all, ain’t no c**ns in Hawaii, right? It’s one of those things that — where he might not even known what a c**n was — what he knew was, ‘I can hurt you by saying this.’”
Obama noted that he ended with a warning to the friend never to call him that again.
Expanding further on the subject of racism, he stated that this kind of rhetoric gets institutionalized and is used to justify dehumanizing somebody, or worse, kill them.
