Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped the wife of a member of Katsina State House of Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Kurami.
The news of her abduction was tweeted by Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna lawmaker, in the early hours of Sunday.
While bemoaning the heightened state of insecurity on the country, Sani, a former senator, called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to save Katsina from the hands of bandits and kidnappers who seemed to have taken the state hostage.
He tweeted: “While the elder brother of the Katsina state Secretary to the Government is still in the hands of bandits, the terrorists have struck again this night and kidnapped the wife of a member of State House of Assembly Dr Ibrahim Kurami.
“It’s time for the President to save Katsina state.”
Katsina, like most states in the north, has been under siege by armed bandits and kidnappers.
Recently, the state lawmakers broke down in tears while lamenting the increasing state of insecurity in Katsina State and devastation caused to residents.
The State governor, Aminu Masari, had called on citizens to buy firearms to defend themselves as the state is incapable of doing so.
