Amy Schumer has taken to her Instagram to speak candidly about her struggle with endometriosis, that she recently had to have her uterus and appendix removed due to the condition.
She posted a video taken by her husband, Chris Fischer, which showed her in a hospital gown and bed. “So, it’s the morning after my surgery for endometriosis and my uterus is out,” Schumer said. “The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis that he removed. He removed my appendix because the endometriosis had attacked it.
“There was a lot, a lot of blood in my uterus and I’m, you know, sore and I have some, like, gas pains,” she added, “If you have really painful periods you may have #endometriosis.”
The actress and her husband welcomed their now 2-year-old son Gene in 2019 after she went through IVF. “We did IVF and IVF was really tough on me,” she told People last year. “I don’t think I could ever do IVF again.”
