21bn Presidential Clinic: ‘You’ll still travel abroad for treatment’ – Shehu Sani slams Buhari

Senator Shehu Sani has aimed jibes at President Muhammadu Buhari over the construction of a State House Clinic, Presidential Wing.

Reacting to the billions of Naira budgeted for the clinic in the 2022 Budget, Sen Sani opined that it will not stop the President and his family from flying abroad when they have headaches.

“No matter how much is spent to upgrade and equip the Presidential Clinic, it will never change their obsession with foreign doctors and foreign clinics,” he wrote on his verified Twitter handle on Monday.

His reaction comes after Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari had flagged off the construction and equipping of a 14-bed space Presidential Clinic at a cost of N21 billion.

According to the CoS, when completed, the clinic would provide the needed medical care for the President, the Vice President and other officials of government.

Buhari and members of his family have been frequenting the United Kingdom, Dubai, and other foreign countries for medical care since assuming office on May 29, 2015.

This is in stark contrast to his campaign promise of revamping infrastructures in the health sector when he ran for office in 2015.

The Nigerian leader has spent no fewer than 170 days abroad on medical trips since his assumption of office in 2015.
